If you want to have a happy and productive day, the easiest way is to start your day off right.
What does your current morning look like?
Is it rushed or relaxed?
Is there any time for yourself or do your mornings revolve around your family or getting ready for work?
Create A Morning Ritual
Changing your mornings doesn’t have to be hard. You can start small but the goal should be to have a morning routine that will benefit you.
That means, you need to customize your mornings to suit you.
Do you want your morning to incorporate learning? Mindfulness? Reading? Exercise? Meditation?
Start small and wake up 15 minutes earlier.
Dedicate those extra fifteen minutes to do something for you.
It could be reading or doing a short work out.
Add One New Thing Each Week.
Keep waking up ten or fifteen minutes earlier each week to add more to your morning ritual.
You’ll hopefully end up with a thirty minute or an hour long routine that will start your day off right.
Ideas for creating your own morning ritual.
Spending a few minutes each morning planning out your day or writing down your thoughts will help you de-stress and stay organized throughout the day.
You could do some creating writing by finding some prompts or keep a gratitude journal where you jot down three or five things you have to be grateful for each morning.
Go For A Walk
Often, our days are so busy and people are pulling us in all directions.
It can be hard to find time for yourself.
Going for a walk in the morning will get your body moving and also give you some time to think.
You could listen to an audio book while you walk or think about a project you’re working on.
Reading is another thing that can be hard to squeeze into an already busy day.
Spending ten or fifteen minutes a day in the morning with an education book or your favorite fiction author can add up to a book or two a month.
Listening to your favorite music in the morning is a great way to wake up faster and get yourself in a good mood.
When I put on a playlist of songs I love, it’s hard not to feel upbeat and energized.
There are so many great ten minute home workout videos on YouTube that you can include in your morning routines.
You won’t need much equipment, just a mat, a few dumbbells or kettle bells, or you could focus solely on body weight exercises.
Affirmations are short statements that you can read aloud to yourself each morning to program your subconscious mind.
You can replace negative thoughts you might have in the morning like “I hate my job” or “I’m not a morning person” with positive statements like “I’m improving myself everyday” or “I’m so grateful to be alive today.”
Taking just ten minutes to meditate with a guided meditation on YouTube or using an app like Headspace will help you relax and stay focused throughout the day.
Put It Into Action
Create a morning ritual that will allow you to start the day in the right mood and mindset so that you can conquer the day.
How different do you think your life could be if you switched from hitting the snooze button three times and rushing to get ready to work to waking up when the alarm goes off and spending thirty minutes with yourself, doing something that you love, doing something that will improve your mind and your body?
Over time, your morning ritual will change you.
You already have a ritual. It just might not be serving you.
Take the time and make the effort to develop a purposeful morning ritual that will have a lasting impact on your day and your life.
